Paving the Way for Standardized Financial Transactions with Syniverse Wi-Fi Services
One of the world’s leading telecommunications operators needed a way to provide a more reliable and efficient process to exchange billing data over wireless local area networks (WLAN). However, a lack of standards for the exchange of billing data had limited the attractiveness of public WLAN for mobile operators. When the Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA) created the Wireless Roaming Intermediary Exchange (WRIX) standard in 2006, it took a major step toward resolving this. Following the development of this standard, the mobile operator sought a solution that would enable it to take advantage of the latest developments in WRIX.
Drawing on its experience as a mobile service provider that has been involved in developing the standards for WLAN roaming from the beginning, Syniverse implemented its Wi-Fi Clearing Services to fulfill the mobile operator’s requirements. Designed with a common technical framework for WLAN interoperability that Syniverse worked closely with the WBA to create, Wi-Fi Clearing Services has been able to offer the mobile operator compliance with the most current WRIX standards, processes and interfaces for Wi-Fi clearing, 24/7 monitoring and support, and customized usage detail records.
Syniverse Wi-Fi Clearing Services has enabled us to put in place the latest industry standards and processes for Wi-Fi transactions, simplifying and ensuring the quality of our customers’ billing processes. This has helped ensure our commitment to the customer and our high level of service for the more than 60,000 hotspots through which we offer Wi-Fi.
