Syniverse Provides Global A2P Messaging for Bigo Free-Call App
TAMPA, Fla. – May 19, 2015 – Syniverse today announced that it has signed an agreement with mobile application Bigo to use Syniverse’s A2P (application-to-person) messaging platform to allow subscribers to make free domestic and international phone calls and send free text messages. Syniverse’s A2P Messaging Gateway enables a critical step in the sign-up process by instantly sending a unique PIN to new Bigo subscribers, anywhere in the world.
With the app, users can make free calls and send unlimited messages to Bigo users in more than 230 countries. The rich messaging services include text, voice, photo and multimedia chat capabilities, including group messaging up to 500 people. Users receive an initial set of free calls and texts to non-Bigo users and may purchase additional credits.

With the continuing popularity of text messaging as a mobile service, the market for A2P messaging services is forecast to steadily rise in the next few years. The market is predicted to grow to almost $60 billion by 2018, up from $55 billion in 2013, according to Juniper Research.
