Syniverse NEXTSM Wins Global Telecoms Business Innovation Award
Syniverse honored by GTB magazine for second year running
TAMPA, Fla. – June 16, 2009 – Syniverse Technologies (NYSE:SVR), a leading provider of technology and business solutions for the global telecommunications industry, was presented the Wireless Network Infrastructure Innovation award at the Global Telecoms Business (GTB) Innovation Awards ceremony in London on Tuesday, June 16.
The GTB Innovation Awards honor innovative projects involving telecommunications operators and service providers around the world, in association with their vendors and suppliers.
Against an impressive shortlist, Syniverse received the award for Syniverse NEXT, the industry’s first advanced messaging hub, and its advances in eliminating a myriad of obstacles that have been holding back the global expansion of enhanced messaging solutions. NEXT has played a key role in the Fixed-Mobile Convergence Alliance’s (FMCA) Open Presence Trial by providing the necessary architecture to test the exchange of presence information and other advanced messaging capabilities between operators and across disparate technologies.
“On behalf of Syniverse, I would like to thank GTB magazine for this prestigious award,” said Tony Holcombe, President and CEO. “Not only are we honored to be recognized as the winner in this space for our all-in-one, do-it-all messaging hub solution, we also are extremely proud that this is our second GTB award in two years.”
In 2008 Syniverse received a GTB Innovation Award for Syniverse DataNet, its Near Real Time Roaming Data Exchange solution.
Alan Burkitt-Gray, editor of GTB magazine, said his organization was impressed by the quality and number of nominations this year — the most it has ever had — so it was a special triumph to be one of the winners.
“This was an outstanding project and well deserves its award,” Burkitt-Gray said. “This project stood out even though the competition was strong, and it just had to be one of the winners. Well done to all involved.”
He continued, “The industry is seeing a wave of innovation which is making a huge difference — to the companies working in the industry and to all of us in business and as consumers. Congratulations to all the award winners.”
