Syniverse Establishes Industry’s First Comprehensive LTE Hub

One-stop solution delivers full LTE and IMS interoperability and interworking, 4G clearing and settlement, next-generation customer care solutions, and advanced messaging gateway capabilities

TAMPA, Fla. – June 19, 2012 – As mobile operators worldwide build out advanced networks to support long-term end-user demands for bandwidth and advanced capabilities, Syniverse is addressing the more complex aspects of Long Term Evolution (LTE) with a one-stop suite of solutions. The Syniverse LTE Hub gives operators rapid access to full LTE and IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) interoperability and interworking required for 4G voice and data roaming. The Hub also provides advanced customer care, wholesale billing and messaging services to ensure these next-generation networks deliver the seamless experience end users demand.

“Around the globe, operators are making tremendous progress rolling out LTE networks,” Syniverse President and CEO Jeff Gordon said. “For end users, the most important factor is that these networks interoperate with each other and interwork with supporting Wi-Fi and legacy cellular networks to offer the ubiquitous coverage to which mobile users have become accustomed. For operators, this means they must take steps to deliver full-service 4G interoperability and interworking today to deliver advanced services well into the future.”

The path to full-fledged LTE interoperability and interworking begins with the Syniverse PRIME IP Packet eXchange Network Solution (IPX), which provides a carrier-grade, five-nines connection to Syniverse via a global all-IP network that is fully enabled to deliver the quality and class of service required for LTE. With this single connection, which currently connects more than 80 operators worldwide, operators gain immediate access to Syniverse’s full suite of 4G solutions:

  • Diameter and SIP signaling for full LTE and IMS interoperability and interworking – Syniverse offers the Diameter and Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) signaling capabilities required for 4G voice and data roaming as well as compatibility with legacy networks. These functions offer full interoperability and interworking to support Evolved Packet Cores and IMS architecture, allowing operators to deliver ubiquitous coverage with all of the network resources at their disposal.
  • Customer experience protection – Beyond simply transporting data, Syniverse Real-Time Intelligence solutions allow operators to access and interpret a 360-degree view of the information traveling across the IPX network, enabling them to take action and ensure exceptional end-user experiences instantaneously – a capability that becomes particularly important in the fast-paced, hypercompetitive 4G ecosystem.
  • Next-generation clearing and settlement – Syniverse has provided clearing and settlement services to the mobile ecosystem for decades, allowing the company to enable a smooth back-office transition to LTE, including a full suite of 4G clearing and settlement solutions that ensure compatibility with existing file types and billing procedures.
  • Advanced video and messaging support – Syniverse is an established messaging interoperability provider, and its messaging solutions support the 4G landscape by delivering interworking between mobile ecosystem players for the exchange of data, IM, SMS and MMS across networks, protocols and message types, bridging Rich Communications Suite (RCS) and legacy services. Syniverse also offers mobile video solutions that enable end users to enjoy interoperable video experiences across networks, devices and geographies.

Building on its deep understanding of all the components involved in 4G interoperability and interworking, Syniverse also offers a comprehensive roaming consultancy service for operators that require tailored LTE roaming and interworking strategic support. Via Syniverse GAIN Roaming Business Management Services, Syniverse LTE roaming experts ensure consistency throughout a LTE roaming rollout by defining and implementing the processes that maximize the benefits of LTE roaming while maintaining a superior service level for legacy operations.

“4G roaming and interworking present a host of complexities for operators, so it’s critical to take a long-term strategic approach to maximize back-end efficiencies and to focus on the end-user experience,” Gordon said. “Syniverse will smooth the transition in every way possible. Instead of having to vet, implement and manage separate solutions for network, clearing and settlement, customer care, and messaging, mobile operators can obtain all of these vital solutions via a single source, the Syniverse IPX network. Only Syniverse offers this breadth of 4G solutions, all of which are backed by our 25 years of simplifying complexity for the mobile ecosystem.”
